Recipe: New potatoes with catnip
Vegetable recipes with herbs
September 16, 2008
When I bought catnip (or catmint) seeds, I imagined my cat will enjoy it.
They were difficult to grow, with long germination times, but I told to myself that my cat deserves such effort.
When I finally place the pot in her favourite sunny place... she simply ignored it.
Anyway, catnip leaves were very flavorous, smelling of mint and lemon: similar to balm leaves, but more fleshy.
I included them in my special dried mint tea mixture and used in some recipes.
This one is prepared with new potatoes that aren't mine, but this is a different story…
New potatoes with catnip
Ingredients
300g new potatoes
100ml single cream
100ml whole yogurth
1 tbsp. Lemon juice
catnip
Directions
Wash the potatoes, but do not peel them. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
Meanwhile prepare creme fraiche combining the sigle cream with yogurt and lemon juice.
Put the new potatoes on a serving plate, garnish with creme fraiche and a sprig of catnip.
