Another strange weed

After the Mimosa Pudica (sensitive plant) sprouted as a weed, another unexpected plant surprised me.

Small potato

This year I start to compost: leaves, paper, kitchen crap... for example potato peels. Apparently they didn't decompose, but generate some plants: I can't believe it and call them potato peel plants.
Then I harvested one of them.
They're minipotatoes!

I know, they're too small. But I will wait to harvest the other plants, and maybe they will grow bigger.
Anyway, potatoes are definitely included in my 2009 project.

I ve also had them come up from compost, when you d think it would have been killed off. Apparently, plants in the nightshade family (eg, potatoes, tomatoes, aubergine and peppers)are the hardest to kill and often come up from kitchen scraps in the compost. I think of them as bonus plants . . .xx

Yes, all you need is an eye of a potato for it to grow into a plant. I ve also had them come up from compost, when you d think it would have been killed off.
