Recipe: Apple pie with cranberries
Enjoy growing
November 19, 2010
Thanksgiving is not an Italian holiday, but I always loved all the traditional recipes that are related to it.
So every year I bring to my family's dinner table some overseas traditions: turkey, the four aromatic herbs parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, apples, pumpkin, string beans, cranberries, yams and corn.
This pie is a perfect example.
Apple pie with cranberries
Ingredients
1 pie crust of 230g
3 Golden Delicious apples
50g dried cranberries
60g sugar
25g all-purpose flour
1 tbsp brandy
1 egg white
30ml milk
Directions
In a large bowl mix the flour with the sugar, then add the cranberries and apples, peeled, cored and cut into thin slices. Mix well.
Place the pie crust on a greased baking sheet, with a 5 cm high edge.
Fill with apple mixture.
Mount the egg white until stiff, incorporate the brandy and the milk and pour over the apples mixture.
Fold the edges over the filling, then bake in preheated 180° C (356 F) oven 40 minutes.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
